Just a Thought

Today in Sunday School we referred to Matthew chapter 25 which has the Parable of the Ten Virgins and the Talents, etc. It was a really good lesson but the one thing that really stuck with me was a quote that the Teacher read.

” Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask oursleves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a Child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Nelson Mandela

I think that is the most powerful statement that we can all take into consideration and hopefully start to practice. It is total truth.

  1. Me says:

Have you ever seen Akeela and the Bee? That quote is on that movie and the movie is so great. I have that quote hanging in my kitchen.

  2. Elisa says:

I have been lurking on your site for a week or two now and I have never posted a comment. I just wanted you to know that this qoute is one of my favorites. I also admire you so much for the decision that you have made. My husband and I have been on the waiting list through LDS family services for about 3 months now and are so excited.
